The Friends of All Saints' Hannington
The Friends (Registered Charity no. 1113305) was set up in January, 2006 "exclusively to help preserve the structure and fabric of our ancient Parish Church of All Saints', Hannington."
The Friends does not contribute to the day-to-day running of the church or the Diocesan Quotas. The Friends will give everyone in the local community the chance to help safeguard our village landmark, not just for today but for future generations.
The Trustees have the responsibility for organising financial support of the Charity through membership and local activities. They also have sole discretion on the distribution of funds to capital projects suggested by the PCC".
The current Trustees are: Juliet Burton Chairman and Treasurer, Auriol Adams Hon
Secretary and the rest of the committee is - Dicky Opperman, Nicky Sherlock,
Martin Frewer, Mike Shortt and Jennifer Portz.
Projects funded by The Friends have included: spot-lighting of the church; work on the churchyard path; renovation of brass War Memorial plaques; 2 donations to the Bells Project and also paying for the bell ropes; new carpet in the chancel; new service sheets for Remembrance Sunday;renovation and improved security to the 2 Whistler windows; sound system for the church; folding chairs to replace pews removed to accommodate the bells; new hoover for the church; new mower for the churchyard and the recent expert renovation of an old altar frontal
A fund-raising event in the church is normally held once a year.
